COUNCILLORS have refused permission for three mobile phone antennas in a conservation area.
Vodafone had wanted to attach the antennas to the chimney at Croft Mills in Almondbury.
But Kirklees Council’s Huddersfield Planning Sub-committee refused permission yesterday..
Janet Bighe, agent for Vodafone, spoke in favour of attaching the three 14.5 metre antennas to the historic chimney off Northgate.
She said: “There are no other suitable structures in the area which would enable coverage to be achieved. The antennas are designed to reduce their visual impact by being painted to match the chimney’s brickwork.’’
