Chelsea dies, but memory lives on says dad

A TEENAGER who battled cancer has died just days after her family launched a fundraising appeal in her name.
Newsome girl Chelsea North, 14, died in the early hours of Wednesday.
Her death came just six days after an article in the Examiner about a fundraising event her dad, Leigh Binney, is planning in her honour.
Leigh, of Bradley Mills, had arranged a fancy dress five-a-side football tournament at Soccer City in Waterloo on Sunday next weekend to raise funds for Martin House Children’s Hospice at Boston Spa near Wetherby and Ward 10T teenage cancer unit at St James’s Hospital in Leeds.
Leigh said the event would still be going ahead, despite the family being devastated by Chelsea’s loss.
“It will be difficult, but we will do our best,” he said. “She wouldn’t have let me back out, so it’s going ahead.”
