Final return to sea for sailor Albert
Nov 22 2008 by Emma Davison, Huddersfield Daily Examiner
A WIDOW who spent months battling to get her husband’s ashes scattered at sea has finally seen his last wish carried out.
Engineer Albert Terry, of Marsh, spent much of his career working on the measured mile in Scotland, a strip of sea where newly-built ships are tested.
The 87-year-old died from cancer in May and it was his last wish to have his ashes scattered on the mile, just off the Isle of Arran.
And in an emotional ceremony, his wife Joan and daughter Linda Mellor finally saw his request carried out.
Their happiness was met with relief to see the end of what has been a frustrating five months for them.
Albert dedicated over 40 years to Huddersfield-based engineering firm David Brown.
