75-year-old granny fights off gunman with walking stick

A HUDDERSFIELD shopkeeper and his mother beat off a gunman – with her walking stick.

The gunman walked into Joshi’s newsagents on Swan Lane in Lockwood at 7.30pm on Saturday – but got more than her bargained for.

He demanded cash, but owner Dinesh Joshi’s 75-year-old mother, Maniben, tried to fend him off with her walking stick.

Mr Joshi then got hold of the stick and hit the raider who fled empty-handed.

He got into a waiting VW Polo car outside.
