I want to carry on in job, says brave hit-run lollipop man, 73
THE family of quietly courageous grandfather Muhammad Ismail hope someone can name a hit-and-run driver who left him badly hurt in the road.
The 73-year-old former textile worker and shop owner is still in hospital after he was knocked down on Bradford Road at Fartown, near its junction with Flint Street, at 8.15am on November 7.
It can now be revealed he suffered multiple fractures down the right side of his body.
These included a broken leg and fractures from his elbow down to his wrist, which has needed a metal plate putting in.
He is recovering at the BMI private hospital in Birkby after treatment at Huddersfield Royal Infirmary.
Despite police appeals no witnesses have come forward.
Now Mr Ismail’s family have made a renewed plea for help in catching the driver.
