Sporting fun raises £3,000

STAFF and customers at Kirklees pools and sports centres raised more than £3,000 for Children in Need by cycling, rowing and swimming.
Colne Valley Leisure Centre staff stayed up overnight to complete a 24- hour cycle ride in the foyer raising more than £400, which included sale of cakes.
John Cockroft, from Huddersfield Sports Centre, rode 500 miles on an exercise bike. Other members of staff joined in to take the total to almost 1,000 miles, which made £1,551.55 for the charity.
Stadium Health and Fitness Complex staff rode for 12 hours dressed as the Village People, raising about £500. Dewsbury Sports Centre staff took part in a rowathon in the foyer and a swim marathon, adding another £316.27.
Holmfirth Pool and Scissett Baths raised about £100 each for the privilege of wearing fancy dress.
