PLANS for a £5.2m redevelopment of a Kirklees Council site have been given the green light.
An area around the Vine Street depot at Hillhouse, home to the council’s fleet of refuse wagons and road sweepers, will be redeveloped.
The work will take about 18 months and council staff will me moved while the work is under way.
Contractor ISG, an international building and development company, will do the work to design a new vehicle workshop to replace the existing one.
The first phase will see a new road sweeper wash bay created, while half of the existing building will be demolished towards the end of January.
The remaining work will take place over the coming 18 months.
The project is scheduled for completion by late July, 2010.
