KIRKLEES Council buildings are to have a ‘green’ overhaul to reduce carbon emissions.
The Cabinet approved £3m for an ambitious scheme to reduce emissions from council offices, sheltered housing, vehicles and even street lights.
About £1.2m will be spent at Civic Centre 3, one of the council’s worst performing buildings, which emits 330 tonnes of carbon per year.
£100,000 will be spent on solar panels for sheltered housing.
