MP blasts Christmas cards as 'waste of money'

“DON’T send me Christmas cards.”

That’s the message from Huddersfield MP Barry Sheerman, who wants businesses and organisations to follow his lead.

Mr Sheerman said he was only sending cards to close family and friends.

For the third year in a row he will not be posting season’s greetings to business contacts.

He said: “It’s not about being a Scrooge – I’ll still send email cards to people.

“People don’t value getting cards from businesses – most of them just go in the bin.

“If I get a card from Kirklees Council or Syngenta I don’t care about it.
