One in three in Kirklees in overweight

The scheme is managed by a group chaired by the chief executive of Kirklees Primary Care Trust, Mike Potts.

It includes research with key target groups to gain a better understanding of what motivates and hinders people to lose weight and the development of services to help people manage their weight.

Another important focus will be on interventions for people who are overweight, including encouraging GPs to refer individuals to relevant support programmes.

Kirklees Council’s Overview and Scrutiny Panel for Adults and Healthier Communities will meet at Huddersfield Town Hall on Monday to discuss the programme and recommend action, including developing a multi-agency approach involving the NHS, councils, schools, employers and the public.
