Youngsters help tidy up area

FOUR Dalton youngsters have helped to tidy-up their area.
Abigail Salmon, Chris White, Aisha Simpson and Dominic Omonia took to the streets to litter pick, paint and clear paths.
The youngsters, aged 12 to 14, took part in a Dream Scheme project, org-anised by Kirklees Neighbourhood Housing, aimed at involving young people in estate improvements.
They also helped to serve lunch to elderly members of the community in a bid to build bridges between the different generations.
Bev Taylor, the tenant participation officer, said: “Everyone worked really hard and seemed to enjoy themselves.
“Afterwards the young people helped to serve lunch at the Longfield luncheon club that many older residents go to.”
As a reward, the young people will have a trip to the cinema or a football match.
