Nurse practitioners are senior nurses who have their own patients and can diagnose patients.
Dr Hamid said: “Sheila has worked her for many years and is very competent.”
Mr McDermott, father of three sons, David, Paul and Chris, added: “I’m now looking forward to my 70th birthday in March – and then my 80th and then my 90th.”
Specialist lung cancer nurse Helen Jones, said: “November is lung cancer awareness month and we want to get the message across that early diagnosis saves lives.
“We hope that by encouraging those most at risk of lung cancer to recognise the symptoms early and to visit their GP, we can reduce the number of deaths.”
