The 37-year-old came second in the customer service award at the UK Bus Awards held in London.
Matthew, of Crown Square, Quarmby, drives for First.
The UK Bus Awards are open to about 100,000 bus and coach drivers who work in the UK. The customer service award is given to the bus driver with an outstanding record of safe driving and customer care skill.
Matthew qualified for the award after finishing fifth in the Bus Driver Of The Year competition held in Blackpool.
After that, a mystery assessor travelled on his bus.
He was very impressed, noting Matthew’s “very impressive skills. He greeted all his passengers with a smile.”
