Playground campaigners win £50,000

PARENTS and children are celebrating after winning £50,000 Lottery cash to revamp their playground.

But the win nearly didn’t happen when a rival bid from Chesterfield won first place earlier this week.

Supporters of the playground on James Street in Elland were shortlisted to the final eight for the big cash haul.

The eight finalists were featured on Calendar this week with two bids fighting out each evening from Monday to Thursday.
