KIRKLEES has scored successes in regional awards.
The council came first in one category and second in two others at the Yorkshire and Humber Making a Difference Awards.
The pioneering work of Birstall Library and Information Centre won the Outstanding Contribution As A Team category.
The centre piloted the programme of establishing a network of one-point-of-call library and information centres that are successfully being developed across Kirklees.
Clr Liz Smaje, council Cabinet member for leisure and neighbourhood services, said: “The award recognises the excellent work carried out by the team at Birstall Library and Information Centre and the many partners they work with.
“To be recognised at a regional level is a great achievement and is testament to their commitment and hard work.
“To win an award this year was even more difficult than usual, with a record number of nominations being submitted.”
