Meeting to discuss future of Colne Valley Taxi Bus

THE fate of a Colne Valley rural bus service will soon be decided.

Kirklees Council’s Cabinet is getting ready to make a decision on the long-term future of the Colne Valley Taxi Bus, which links outlying communities such as Slaithwaite, Wilberlee, Pole Moor, Outlane, Scapegoat Hill and Crimble with main bus routes.

Council officers are preparing a report on the service, ready for the cabinet to make a decision in December.

A public meeting has been called so that campaigners trying to save the service can hear what is in the report.

Clr Nicola Turner, Kirklees ward member for Colne Valley, has called the meeting at Slaithwaite Methodist Church at 6pm on Wednesday .

She said: “The meeting has been called to share the findings of the report with everyone and to give them the chance to put their views to the council and Metro.

“If people don’t agree with what they hear, they need to speak up. Local people have been at the heart of the campaign and I hope everyone who has been involved will attend.”
