Family demand justice in teenager murder
Dec 2 2008 by Neil Atkinson, Huddersfield Daily Examiner
THE family of a murdered teenager want justice when his killers are sentenced.
And relatives of Amar Aslam feel that the fact the guilty are only teenagers themselves should not impact on the sentencing.
Amar’s sister Samreen and the rest of her tight-knit family hope to see tough sentences when the four defendants are back in court in a few weeks.
She said: “If they can kill someone at the age of 16, why should they get special consideration? I would not be able to cope if they did.”
Amar was knifed to death in Crow Nest Park, Dewsbury, in the spring.
Four youths are now in custody awaiting sentence, after being convicted at Leeds Crown Court.
