Obituary: Denis Broadbent

FORMER teacher and Huddersfield history enthusiast Denis Broadbent has died.
Mr Broadbent, who was 79, died from cancer at his home at Deer Croft Crescent, Salendine Nook, on Monday November 24.
Born in Shepley, he lived and worked in Huddersfield all his life.
He attended Moldgreen Junior School and Hillhouse Central School before training as a carpenter.
He served his national service in the RAF in Germany after the Second World War, before returning to Huddersfield to train as a teacher.
Mr Broadbent spent 10 years at Deighton Secondary School before moving to Newsome High School as a teacher of woodwork, metal work and technical drawing.
