Town bars and pubs team up to beat booze-fuelled crime

EIGHTEEN pubs, bars and nightclubs have vowed to help cut alcohol-related crime.
Town centre drinking spots and student bars have joined forces to help promote customer safety and reduce late-night crime.
Through the Kirklees Best Bar None initiative, 18 licensed properties will implement policies that tackle security, drunkenness, drugs, public safety, disorder and prevention of public nuisance.
All the premises have now been granted Best Bar None accreditation by West Yorkshire Police and the Kirklees Safer Stronger Communities Partnership, which set the standard for licensed properties and monitor incidents.
Best Bar None is a police and council award which aims to promote responsible licensed trade management.
All venues will commit to reduce the potential for disorder in town centres and public places arising from alcohol abuse.
