THE man who kidnapped Shannon Matthews has again been attacked in jail, it was claimed today.

Reports said Michael Donovan was attacked by another inmate in Armley jail, Leeds.

Donovan, 40, is being held pending sentencing for the kidnapping of the Dewsbury schoolgirl last February.

He and Shannon’s mother, Karen Matthews, were convicted earlier this month of kidnap and other charges.

Donovan, who held Shannon captive in his flat in Lidgate Gardens, Batley, was allegedly attacked in the prison’s medical wing. He was hit in the face.

His trial at Leeds Crown Court was told he suffered a broken jaw in the first attack, which happened while he was on remand.
