Diver 'exposed to toxic chemicals' in Gulf in court claim

A FENAY Bridge diver exposed to toxic chemicals in Saudi Arabia is fighting to have a court case heard under Sharia law.

Andrew Iles, 41, is one of three men appearing at London’s High Court fighting to have a case dating back to 2003 heard under the Islamic law.

Court actions revealed the professional diver, of Tithefields, was exposed to toxic chemicals while working in Saudi Arabia.

Along with Stephen Harley, 41, of Devon, and Michael Hopley, of Crewe, Mr Iles is fighting to have the case heard under Sharia law.

But lawyers for the company which employed them are arguing that, under Saudi law, the men have brought their case outside the time limits allowed.

Mr Iles and his fellow claimants are taking action against Khalifa A Algosaibi Diving and Marine Services (KADMS) who they were working for at the time.
