LBT to make big screen comeback

FILMS are to make a comeback at the Lawrence Batley Theatre.
Movies used to be screened at the theatre on Queen Street when it first reopened in 1994.
But the 35mm projector installed then has been out of use in recent years since films stopped being screened in 2000.
Now, it is being restored so that the LBT can provide the delights of the silver screen to its visitors.
Suzanne Wynne, spokeswoman for the LBT, said: “The idea is to offer films that are not available to people at places like the Odeon. We are not looking at blockbusters – it is going to have a more arthouse kind of feel.
“It is also about getting new audiences into the theatre, people who have perhaps never been here before.”
The films will be screened in the main auditorium once a month.
