MEET baby Ben – a little piece of history cute Ben Bottomley is the 400th baby to be born at Huddersfield Family Birth Centre.
Ben arrived at 8 am on December 16, three weeks early.
He is the second child of Vikki and John Bottomley, 36, from Fenay Bridge and a baby brother for sister Eve, who is five.
Vikki, 37, works as a teaching assistant at Rowley Lane Junior, Infants and Nursery School at Lepton.
She said: “The whole experience was phenomenal. Everyone was so welcoming and so friendly and it was all so informal.”
Vikki visited the birth centre during her pregnancy to see the new facilities. The centre, which opened in March, is aimed at mums who have had an uncomplicated pregnancy and prefer a “home from home” birth setting.
Gina Augarde, birth centre manager, said: “We are delighted to be welcoming our 400th baby and pleased the Bottomley family enjoyed their time with us. “
The Centre was opened as part of the big changeover for maternity services in Huddersfield and Halifax.
Mums who expect normal births can have their babies delivered at the Birth Centre, but those with complications must go to the Calderdale Royal Hospital.
