“VOSA vehicle examiners issued 13 notices for offences such as tinted glass, brakes, suspension, steering, bodywork and damaged seatbelts on a minibus. One of the vehicles had tinted windows that only let in 3% of light and the legal limit is 70%.”

Kirklees Taxi Enforcement also checked 17 vehicles and five were suspended on the spot for serious defects and two given advisory notices.”

Sgt Hughes added: “The partnership approach to these operations is central to their success. One example of this has been the work undertaken by Kirklees Neighbourhood Housing.

“Estate Caretakers removed around half a tonne of dumped items from both Fieldhead and the Howden Clough Estates.”
