Church mourns for road death couple

CHURCH officials have paid tribute to a Huddersfield couple, killed in a crash tragedy.

David and Sally Firth, of Crosland Moor, died when they were hit by two cars as they were on their way to a Sheffield church.

Tragically, the accident happened only yards from the Spiritualist Church in Broomhill, where the couple planned to join friends for a Christmas social evening.

The Firths, of William Street, were both members of the Church in Quarmby.

Mr Firth, 43, and his 41-year-old medium wife were killed last Friday night.

They died after getting out of their car on Whitham Road and attempting to cross the busy road to get to the church.

The couple were popular within the church community and did a lot of work for charity, in particular Donna's Dreams in Blackpool which offers holidays to terminally ill children.
