A WOMAN who was shot as she tried to break up a violent clash in Huddersfield was praised for her bravery today.
The 47-year-old was waiting for a takeaway meal in the early hours of Saturday when she tried to break up the altercation between a man and a three-strong gang – one of them armed with a handgun.
But both she and a 22-year-old man were shot in the legs as the gunman took aim.
Details of the woman’s bravery were revealed today as detectives stepped up their hunt for the gunman, who is thought to have escaped in a red Vauxhall Corsa.
The woman was taken to hospital for treatment for leg wounds and later allowed home.
The man, who earlier police reports said was 19, underwent further surgery yesterday on his wounds and was discharged. He has a fractured right leg and will be laid up for weeks.
