Addict jailed for attack on 92-year-old

A DRUG addict who tried to rob a 92-year-old man at a Huddersfield bus stop has been jailed.

The court was also told that Bryan Astin, who was jailed for four years, had previously attacked an elderly woman in the town.

His latest victim was Charles Noakes, who suffers from Alzheimer’s disease.

He had been visiting his wife in the Royal Infirmary when Astin, 33, tried to grab his bag in a bus shelter on nearby New Hey Road.

But he would not give the bag up.

An alleged accomplice grabbed Mr Noakes’ lapels. Mr Noakes fell over, banging his head on a wall.
