Brian’s star still shines brightly!

A FRESH-faced 15-year-old starred in a Nativity play in 1950.

Brian Hebblethwaite, now 73, is still acting in Nativities and will do so again in church tonight.

He is the secretary at Salendine Nook Baptist Church and a black and white photograph of the 1950 Nativity play in the Examiner last week sparked happy memories.

The Examiner’s All Our Yesterdays feature showed him playing a king in the 1950 Sunday school production of the play The Stained Glass Window.

And 58 years later Brian, a former chairman of Huddersfield magistrates, is Joseph in the church’s Christmas Eve production.

“It was a surprise to see the picture,” he said. “We did quite a lot of plays at Sunday school then. One was about a Russian cobbler.

“All these years later we’re still doing productions and my role has gone from a king to Joseph.”
