Council may review parking rules after court defeat

PARKING rules could be reviewed after Kirklees Council lost a two-year parking ticket battle.
Delivery driver John Crapper took the council to court twice in a bid to clear his named after he was wrongly issued with a parking ticket in 2006.
Now, after a hearing at Huddersfield County Court in July and a tribunal in Manchester two weeks ago – both of which found in Mr Crapper’s favour – the council will consider reviewing its policy.
Jacqui Gedman, its assistant director for transport, said she believed the council’s traffic regulations were legal and she was waiting for a full report from the tribunal.
Ms Gedman added: “After the written decision from the adjudicator we can examine the full details of the decision and its implications.
“We can then decide on the appropriate action.”
