Town centre gunman still on the run

POLICE are trawling through CCTV footage in a bid to trap a gunman who shot two people in Huddersfield.

The man and two accomplices escaped in a red Vauxhall Corsa after the shooting in Northumberland Street early on Saturday morning.

Police are hoping to gather more evidence from the cameras dotted about the town centre.

The man’s victims were a 22-year-old Huddersfield man, who was involved in an altercation with the men, and a woman of 47 who tried to intervene in the incident.

Both were treated in hospital for leg wounds.

The male victim said: “It was terrifying. You never think that on a night out at Christmas you would end up getting shot.”

Police are hunting three men, all in their 20s. All were involved in an earlier incident with the victim in Cross Church Street.
