A HUDDERSFIELD playground has been transformed, thanks to a £70,000 cash injection.
The area at Fernlea Recreation Ground, Lindley, now appeals to children of all ages after £60,000 was given to buy new equipment.
Most of the cash came from the Government’s Play Builder scheme, which helped to extend existing facilities for the eight to 13-year-olds.
A further £10,000 was given by Bovis Homes to pay for new toddler play equipment.
Before the cash was given facilities on the site consisted of a mini-football pitch, a pod for teenagers, basketball facilities and a picnic area.
The new additions mean the ground now has a universal appeal and that children and young people of any age will be able to find something there for them.
The new toddler play area includes swings, a multi-play area with a slide, a springy roundabout and animal and new seating.
For the older children facilities have been extended to include a cantilever pendulum swing, a ride similar to a suspended skateboard and a perching post.
