Police target burglars on the move

A MAJOR police operation has been running to nab travelling villains.
The carefully coordinated blitz has been targeting criminals using the roads at night around Kirklees, Calderdale, Bradford South, Airedale and North Bradford. It began on Christmas Eve and will go on into the New Year.
The four divisions are working together to stop and arrest the offenders – and one of the main targets are burglars.
Det Chief Insp Dave Knopwood from Kirklees police is coordinating the operation.
He said: “This illustrates how we as a force can work together across different areas to tackle criminals who attempt to evade arrest and use our roads to commit crime.
“It involves specially-trained officers and local neighbourhood officers working together to protect our communities. It is also about directing our resources in the right areas at the right time.
“Officers will be focusing on routes which are known to be used by criminals in attempts to avoid arrest. They will also be checking and stopping vehicles using the automatic number plate recognition system.
