Tonnes of earth dumped on grave

Susan Kenyon and family graveside

A CHRISTMAS visit to her husband’s grave turned into a nightmare for a Huddersfield woman.

Mrs Susan Kenyon was horrified to see all the flowers and memorials taken off the grave in Kirkheaton Cemetery and the plot itself covered in a mound of soil from a newly-dug grave.

She and her daughters were left in tears after the Christmas Day visit.

And she hit out at graveyard staff for their insensitivity at a poignant time of year.

Mrs Kenyon, 61, buried her 62-year-old husband, Tony, in the cemetery in February last year after he lost his battle with stomach cancer.

She herself has battled breast cancer five times in 15 years, undergoing chemotherapy, radiotherapy and surgery.

But she was left in tears when her Christmas Day plans to leave a memorial for her husband were wrecked.
