Houdini
THIS is Houdini, the dog that had a death-defying escape.
The mongrel bitch is lucky to be alive after being locked in a suitcase and thrown into a river.
The four-year-old – nicknamed Houdini by rescuers – managed to break free, despite the case being weighted down with stones.
She then scrambled to the bank of Batley Beck, off Carlinghow Hill.
A mother who was walking with her five-year-old son came across the incident.
Lesley Walsh and Edgar saw the distressed animal shivering on the riverbank.
