Shannon Matthews estate visit for David Cameron

“If he wants to slag the estate off, the least he can do is come and have a cuppa.”

She said she believed Mr Cameron would be making his comments based on national media coverage of the Shannon Matthews story.

The invite came as Dewsbury MP Shahid Malik demanded an apology from Mr Cameron.

Mr Malik said: "This is a caricature and stereotype that some of the tabloid media undoubtedly projected but it is profoundly regrettable that the Leader of Her Majesty's Opposition could perpetuate such untruth merely to enable him to justify his warped view of British society.”

A spokesman for Mr Cameron said: "David is very pleased to be invited and we will try to organise a visit as soon as possible next year.”
