Two arrested over town centre shooting
POLICE have arrested two young men after a shooting in Huddersfield town centre.
Detectives had been working on the case since a 22-year-old man and a 47-year-old woman were shot in the early hours of Saturday, December 20.
The woman was injured as she tried to break up the altercation between a man and a three-strong gang – one of them armed with a handgun – in a takeaway on Northumberland Street at 2.45am.
Police detained a 21-year-old man from Dalton and a 19-year-old man from Waterloo yesterdaymorning.
Both were taken to Dewsbury police station for questioning.
They were arrested on suspicion of wounding.
The two victims were shot in the legs – the man in the lower leg and the woman in her foot.
A bullet hit the man and part of the bullet then ricocheted into the woman’s foot.
