D-day for Mirfield development plan

THE row is still going on over a massive new development near Mirfield.
Kirklees officials say the scheme will cut traffic on a busy road.
Councillors will decide next week whether to allow building on the 30-acre site on Mirfield Moor.
It is said it will create 900 jobs and councillors are being recommended to back the scheme.
Developers Park Crescent have asked Kirklees for permission to build offices and manufacturing units along the busy A62 Leeds Road.
The plan – called Mirfield 25 – is for land off Slipper Lane and also includes a retirement village for up to 344 people.
Park Crescent plan to alter the layout of local roads.
Changes would include banning motorists from turning right from Leeds Road on to Child Lane and from turning left out of Child Lane.
The council’s highways department believes these changes will actually reduce total queuing in the evening rush hour from 150 cars to 117.
