HE IS hoping for screen success this year.
Huddersfield film-maker Bal Kumar is dreaming of hitting the big time in 2009 with his debut feature film set to be released within months.
Bal produced Cuckoo starring Richard E Grant, Laura Fraser, and Antonia Bernath.
Grant is a hugely-respected actor, who made his name in the cult classic Withnail and I and also starred in films such as Hudson Hawk and Jack and Sarah.
Laura was in A Knight’s Tale and the comedy Kevin and Perry Go Large, while Antonia made a successful appearance in St Trinians.
Bal’s second feature film as producer will be Foodland, a UK/ Canadian co-production which is about to go into production next week.
And his third feature film as producer, which will star Steve Evets, is called Best Laid Plans and is based on John Steinbeck’s epic Of Mice and Men.
“Things have really moved forward a lot this year and 2009 is going to a be a massive year,” said Bal, 37.
