Money wrangle holds up school
A TOWN centre building for child musicians is lying idle because of a dispute over spending of taxpayers’ money.
Kirklees Council’s Cabinet will decide next week what to do about 5a Northumberland Street.
The building is owned by the charity Kirklees Music School (KMS), which receives £317,000 a year from the council.
KMS has 80 staff who teach music to children at their office in Beast Market and in schools.
However, the charity is not able to move into new offices in Northumberland Street until a property wrangle is cleared up.
The council’s Cabinet will decide on Wednesday whether to investigate KMS.
