Tributes for Huddersfield charity workers killed in crash

Tina Parfitt, of the Pathways Spiritual Centre in Southport, said: “I was greatly shocked to hear the news of David and Sally’s fatal accident.

“Both were wonderful people, selfless and caring, helping a number of charities. They will be truly missed by all who knew them.

“David and Sally were very dry witted people; David was always full of ideas to help push our church forward into the public forum.

Sally was a wonderful medium, who served our church.”

A close friend of the couple, Monty Havelock, of Durham, said: “These two people had hearts of gold and would go out of their way to help anyone. They were absolutely brilliant workers for charity.

“David was a real character and knew a lot of celebrities through his fundraising – Ken Dodd, Billy Pearce, Joe Longthorne, the Nolan sisters, even the Queen’s nephew Lord Shuttleworth.”

The couple were also prison visitors at Wakefield Prison, where they went twice a week to chat to inmates who don’t get visitors, as well as being deeply involved with the Spiritualist movement through Sally’s work as a medium.
