Police hunt for clues in club shooting

A SHOOTING inside a Huddersfield nightspot has set detectives investigating several leads.

Shots were fired inside the crowded Club Society on Kirkgate in Huddersfield as revellers celebrated the arrival of 2009.

The New Year was under an hour old when the shots rang out in the club. At the same time a fracas erupted.

Terrified partygoers fled outside the landmark building at 12.45am.

One man was hurt during the melee, but detectives have confirmed he was not shot.

He comes from Manchester and suffered minor head injuries.

A West Yorkshire Police spokesman said: “A man from Manchester later attended Leeds General Infirmary for treatment to injuries consistent with an assault.
