Craig Meehan starts appeal over child porn conviction

CHILD pornography convict Craig Meehan will be back in court today – fighting to clear his name.

The former partner of Shannon Matthews’ mum Karen has lodged an appeal against his conviction for child porn offences.

His case is due to begin at Leeds Crown Court today.

Meehan, 22, formerly of Moorside Road, Dewsbury, was sentenced last September to 20 weeks jail after been found guilty of accessing 49 indecent images of children.

He left court as a free man, having served 166 days on remand.

Indecent images, including seven grade four – five being the most serious – were found by police on Meehan’s computer which was seized by police investigating Shannon’s disappearance on February 19.
