Huddersfield maternity services call

SUPPORT is flooding in for a fledgling campaign by the bereaved parents of a newborn girl to bring full maternity services back to Huddersfield.
Nearly 2,000 people have joined a group on the social networking website Facebook called Move Our Maternity Services back to Huddersfield (Moms).
More than 600 people have signed a petition on the 10 Downing Street website also demanding a U-turn on the decision to shift consultant-led maternity services from Huddersfield Royal Infirmary to Calderdale Royal Hospital in Halifax.
The campaign was started less than six weeks ago by Alanna Delahaye and Glynn Bates, of Coombe Road, Golcar.
As reported in the Examiner, the couple lost their daughter Maisie in September.
And they believe the fact they had to travel the extra five-and-a-half miles to have her in Halifax was crucial.
