JAKE the cat spent Christmas 70 miles away from home after somehow travelling to Huddersfield.

Sharon Finch found the moggy, which she named Jake, at the dance studio she runs in Old Leeds Road, near the sports centre.

Checks with a vet revealed that Jake’s home town was Lincoln.

Now Mrs Finch wants to know how he made the 70-mile trip and is also looking for his owner.

But Mrs Finch, of Berry Brow, says she has had no luck so far in tracing his owners.

She added: “I heard him squealing outside my dance studio, Danceology, but it took me a few days to get him to come out so I could see him.

“He came into the studio but ran off when my ladies came for their dance class.

“I could not find him that night but he was crying when I got back to the studio the following day.

“I have two cats who live at the studio and they were not too impressed with Jake, so I had to take him home with me.
