Huddersfield shop now takes euros; picture and story

A HUDDERSFIELD shop has gone Continental and started accepting euros from customers.

The Don’t Forget card and gift shop on Westbourne Road at Marsh is believed to be the first in the town to start taking the currency as payment.

Staff are now accepting euro notes and change at the same rate of sterling and say that the idea is going down well with customers.

Owner Alison Rayner came up with the idea when she was spring cleaning her handbag and found old euro notes.

She said: “Everyone’s got coins and notes left over from their holidays that they don’t know what to do with.

“So I thought that by offering this scheme we would be helping our customers by enabling them to spend money they wouldn’t be able to spend elsewhere.
