Newsome tops Huddersfield crime league

NEWSOME is by far the most crime-ridden Kirklees Council ward in Huddersfield, according to figures on a new website.
There were 4,160 crimes in the ward in the last year, www.beatcrime.info reveals.
The figures are nearly 40% higher than those for the second most crime-affected ward, Dalton, which saw 2,588 offences in the last year.
They are more than six times higher than the "safest" ward, Denby Dale, which had 655 crimes last year.
But Newsome’s figures, which include 19 serious violent crimes, are highest because the area includes Huddersfield town centre.
West Yorkshire Police has launched the Beat Crime website to allow users to find out what crimes have happened in any council ward simply by typing in a postcode.
