Top-level panel set up to avert Baby P tragedy

COUNCILLORS will begin investigating child care to prevent a Baby P type tragedy.
Kirklees Council’s Cabinet yesterday set up a top-level panel to examine the care of children who are in care or classed as at-risk.
The panel has been set up in the wake of the death of 17-month-old Baby P.
The child, who cannot be named for legal reasons, suffered more than 50 injuries at the hands of his abusive mother, her boyfriend and their lodger.
He died in a blood-spattered cot last August with eight fractured ribs and a broken back.
