Hunt the driver who did this angry firm tells police

Mill Damage

ANGRY workers have attacked a police decision not to pursue the hit-and-run lorry driver who smashed a gaping hole in a Huddersfield warehouse.

Staff had a lucky escape on Monday when a lorry ran over a lamp-post, sending it crashing through the side of Eldon Electricals on Dale Street, Longwood.

An eyewitness said the lorry was trying to make a tight hairpin turn from Royd Street when it hit the lamp-post.

The lamp-post then fell over, demolishing the side of the Springfield Mills warehouse.

No-one was injured as all seven staff were in the company’s offices on another side of the building.

But Eldon bosses were shocked when they were told nothing criminal had happened and no police would be going to look at the scene.

Company secretary Michelle Copeland vowed to put in an official complaint and also appealed for witnesses to come forward.
