Simply the best!

A YOUTH club formed in the early 1900s has again celebrated the achievements of its young members.

The Central Youth Club, at Prospect Street, Springwood, has around 100 members.

It started life as a boys-only club at Shore Head in the early 1900s, called the Brunswick Central Lads Club.

In 1975, the club moved to its new purpose-built building at Springwood.

It has just held its 88th annual meeting and awards ceremony, where awards were given to young people who have achieved much with the club during the past year.

The awards, presented by the Mayor of Kirklees, Clr Karam Hussain, went to: Majer Sohal, pool knockout winner; Fahad Waseen, snooker and table tennis knockout winner; Kamran Aslam, football knockout competition winner; Rezvam Ajaib, Humpleby Trophy for endeavour; Majer Sohal, Lizzie Walker Trophy for best attendance; Yasir Zahoor, Chivers Trophy for best member.
