Police vehicle checks campaign

POLICE will be taking part in a vehicle check to ensure road safety in Brighouse.

Officers from the Lower Valley Neighbourhood Policing Team have joined forces with the Vehicle and Operator Services Agency to improve road safety and reduce casualties in the area.

The joint operation will involve checking vehicles for roadworthiness and, where necessary, offering advice to drivers.

NPT officers will be paying particular attention to seat belt use and where relevant asking for breath tests.

Insp Mohammed Nawaz, of the Lower Valley NPT, said: “This is an excellent initiative, working with our partners to reduce road casualties.

“A defective vehicle is a danger to all road users.

“It is also an opportunity when specialists can advise drivers about the condition of their vehicles and, where necessary, remove dangerous vehicles from our streets.”

A date for the campaign has yet to be fixed.
